National Value Associations which were founder members of the EGB

In 1989, the European Council of Ministers established the SPRINT initiative to strengthen Europe's innovative capacity and competitiveness; Value Management was a key element of this strategy.

One outcome of SPRINT was that the CEN sponsored the collaboration of European National Value Associations to develop:

1. A common European Value Management Standard, approved and published in April 2000.
2. A common European Value Management Training and Certification System now fully implemented.

Value Associations from seven Countries took part. These were:-

  • Belgium - Association pour le développement de l'analyse de la valeur (AVD) asbl
  • France - Association Française pour l'Analyse de la Valeur (AFAV)
  • Germany - Verein Deutscher Ingenieure Zentrum Wertanalyse (VDI-GSP)
  • Italy - Associazone Italiana per l'Analysei del Valore (AIAV)
  • Portugal - Associação Portuguesa para a Análise do Valor
  • Spain - ANAVA
  • United Kingdom - Institute of Value Management (IVM)

The Netherlands (DACE), Ireland (Forbairt), Greece, Denmark and, latterly, Austria (WIFI) were observers.

The Netherlands joined as full members of the EGB in 2005. Sweden has set up a branch of the IVM (UK).

The remit of the European Governing Board is to oversee and regulate the European Training and Certification System in Value Management.

Status of the EGB
